Gratitude is a vibrational match to abundance. When we’re grateful for what we have, we are given more. I firmly believe this. But as I’m not always so great at remembering it, I’ve started working this little ritual into my life. I’m not going to lie and tell you I remember to do this EVERY morning, but I keep these tools by my bedside as a reminder. And chances are, if I forget, I’ll seek them out later in the day because I’ve fallen into a funk, or just feel generally disconnected and unsteady.
(This is what happened today. I blame the impending full moon in Virgo and last night’s episode of The Walking Dead.)
This has quickly become a must-have for me. You could use any grounding oil, but Gratitude was intentionally blended by Young Living to help foster a grateful attitude and embrace the blessings in our lives. It invites feelings of emotional and spiritual progress. It blends frankincense, coriander, myrrh, ylang ylang, spruce, and bergamot among many others. It’s warm and earthy and divine. I roll it on my wrists and over my heart.
I started this journal towards the end of 2016 when I was going through a pretty dark time. Its ability to snap me out of a mood is nearly instantaneous. I fill up one page with sentences beginning with “I’m thankful for…” These things can be as profound or mundane as you like, ranging from “The love of my life” to “My pretty turquoise wall” to “The kitty trying to swat the pen from my hand.” Sometimes I have to sit and ponder for a minute, or even reframe things that are bugging me into positive experiences I should be thankful for. Kind of a “fake it till you make it” happiness exercise. It WORKS.
Once I feel like I’m in an open state of mind, I’ll do a tarot or oracle card reading. They’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but they’re my favorite tools for tapping into my intuition and sorting things out. I also find the shuffling and placement to be meditative. Plus, you know, they’re pretty. This is the Pythia Botanica Oracle, one of my favorite decks.
